Consider both the rewards AND risks of breast implant surgery before saying "yes."
Breast implant surgery can be a wonderful, life-changing experience. It can increase your self confidence, renew your body image and create a figure that enhances the very best of you. However, breast implant surgery is not without its risks. So it is imperative that you talk with Dr. Zevon about the following considerations before making your decision:
- Breast implantation may not be a one time surgery. You are likely to need additional surgery and surgeon visits over the course of your life.
- Breast implants are not lifetime devices. You will likely undergo implant removal with or without replacement over the course of your life.
- Many of the changes to your breast after implantation are irreversible. If you later choose to have your implants removed, you may experience unacceptable dimpling, puckering, wrinkling or other cosmetic changes of the breast.
- Breast implants may affect your ability to produce milk for breastfeeding. Also, breast implants will not prevent your breasts from sagging after pregnancy.
- With breast implants, routine mammography screenings will be more difficult, and you will need to have additional views taken.
- After breast implantation, you may see an increase in your health insurance premiums, your coverage may be dropped and/or future coverage may be denied. Additionally, treatment and complications regarding your breast implants may not be covered.
