If you're considering ultrasound-assisted liposuction, we recommend EmmiTM our online patient education system. EmmiTM will walk you through the subject at your own pace, on your own computer. You can select questions to be sent directly to Dr. Zevon for his personal attention. When you come in for your ultrasound-assisted liposuction consultation with Dr. Zevon, both of you will be well-prepared, ready to focus on specific questions that are especially important to you. To enroll, call us at 212.496.6600. We will create a password for you—you will have access 24 hours later. Meanwhile, we have plenty of Dr. Zevon's Patient Information, before and after surgery photos of his ultrasonic liposuction patients, and FAQs for you to review.

Ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty, commonly known as "UAL," is a relatively new liposuction technique that uses sound waves to "liquefy" unwanted fat. Although it is not a substitute for traditional liposuction, UAL can be an effective tool for removing fat from fibrous body areas, such as the male breasts or the back, or for removing larger volumes of fat in a single procedure.

Often, traditional liposuction is performed with UAL to help shape UAL-treated areas or to treat areas of the body not suited for ultrasonic liposuction, such as the neck and inner thighs.

If you are considering ultrasonic liposuction, this text will provide an overview of the technique: when it can help, how it is performed and what results you can expect. It can't answer all of your questions, since a lot depends on your individual circumstances. Ultimately, you and your plastic surgeon will determine whether ultrasonic liposuction or traditional liposuction is best suited for you.

Please ask your physician if there is anything about the ultrasonic liposuction procedure you don't understand.
